Dr. Chung is from Malaysia, he had worked in Singapore for several years and had once studied in Austria and New Zealand. It is the first year that Dr. Chung teaches in Taiwan. In this semester, he teaches Corporate Decision Analysis, Customer Relationship Management and Asia Pacific Business Environment in IBMBA. Dr. Chung mentioned that most of the students in his class are foreigners, which means few Taiwanese students in his class. It makes him confused, but the students are hard-working anyway.

 

Dr. Chung has two Doctor degrees which are respectively Doctor of marketing finished in New Zealand and Doctor of business and administration finished in Australia. He also finished his Master and Bachelor degree in Australia. Dr. Chung has been teaching more than ten years. He has great international teaching experience. He taught business and marketing courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate in New Zealand, Morocco, Kazakhstan, United Arab Emirates and Taiwan respectively. Before teaching career, Dr. Chung also has some industrial experience of fifteen years. He worked in IT software industry, advertising and retailing. When being asked why he decided to teach in university, he said, “Because it took sixteen hours a day to work and I was getting older, I decided to change after years of working. Before teaching, I change my job to train employees first because of my experiences in these industries.”

 

As for choosing to teach in Taiwan, Dr. Chung said, “I am Chinese and can speak a little Chinese but can’t write in Chinese. I come to Taiwan to rediscover my root, like learning Chinese, the history and the culture of Taiwan.” Dr. Chung’s daughters are learning here too. He said that it was glad to see them learn Chinese fast and know more about Taiwan. In addition, Dr. Chung feels the life in Taiwan is good. This also gives him another opportunities to travel the surrounding countries. And Dr. Chung mentioned that NSYSU is not only a good university with the top 10 universities in Taiwan but also has the AACSB accreditation. “It is a great university with good academic environment and nice views.” Dr. Chung said. Besides, Dr. Chung is also a lover of dramas. In Dr. Chung’s leisure time, he likes to watch dramas, especially Chinese costume-dramas. He likes the stories in different dynasties.

 

So far, Dr. Chung has been to sixty-six counties for working or traveling. “Korea will be my sixty-seventh country to visit.” Dr. Chung said with expectation. And Dr. Chung has lived in New Zealand. Maybe he will buy houses in Taiwan and live for long in the future. Finally, Dr. Chung has some words to our students. He encourages students to keep up with the hardworking, keep dreaming on and working on and travel overseas to explore the world. Through the experiences of Dr. Chung, they are various and richly colorful. We believe that Dr. Chung will have another brilliant life in Taiwan.
