Eduniversal, a higher education ranking from France, hosted the 12th Eduniversal World Convention in Bangkok, Thailand from October 26th to 28th, 2019. The College of Management, NSYSU was promoted from the 3 Palmes League to the 4 Palmes League, signifying the College has significant international influence, and listed as one of the 1000 best business schools in the world. On top of that, the College of Management was ranked as one of the top three business schools in Taiwan. Dean San-Yih Hwang and Associate Dean Jui-Kun Kuo attended the convention to receive the award. 

 

Eduniversal's 1000 Best Business Schools ranking has been held annually since 2007 to present a map of higher education institutions around the world. Different from the vertical comparison generated by most business schools rankings, the Eduniversal ranking system features a horizontal evaluation of schools in 9 major geographical regions (Note 1). Instead of comparing business schools across regions, it ranks the best schools within each country, which allows a better inclusion of the diversity of the higher education world and the specificities of each geographical areas. 

 

During the selection of the 1000 best business schools, 1,000 business schools were selected from 154 countries according to the number of students in the higher education system, national education expenditures, and the number of academic research institutions, followed by internationalization criteria created by the International Scientific Committee such as accreditations, international rankings, memberships in international academic or professional associations or partnerships. Then for each region, the chosen schools are divided into five levels of excellence called the "Palmes of Excellence" (Note 2). Once a certain level of Palmes is awarded to a school, the last step is the rating of the school inside its Palm Level in its country. Institutions are then ranked according to the assessment made by their peers, that is Deans of the others best Business Schools ranked by Eduniversal. 

 

Dean Hwang pointed out that among the 1000 best business schools in the world, there are only 200 business schools in the 4 Palmes League (Note 3). Being promoted from the 3 Palmes league to the 4 Palmes League is a significant recognition of the College in terms of the school’s internationalization. Currently, among the chosen schools in Taiwan, National Taiwan University is in the 5 Palmes League, the National Chengchi University and National Sun Yat-sen University are both in the 4 Palmes League. National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, Fu Jen Catholic University and National Chiao-Tung University are in the 3 Palmes League, and National Cheng Kung Uiversity is in the 2 Palmes League.

 

The College of Management, NSYSU has been promoting the internationalization of the school for many years. At the moment, there are 11 foreign teachers from the United Kingdom, France, Austria, Malaysia, South Korea, Sweden, Singapore, the Netherlands, Hong Kong, and others. In addition, the College of Management has 70 sister schools all over the world and signed 14 double degree programs. More than 100 students are sent abroad each year and the number is increasing year by year. Besides the existing school resources, the College of Management also has set aside a scholarship for international exchange. During the 2017-2019 academic years, a total of 24 students received the scholarship, totaling NT$810,000, actively encouraging students to study abroad and broaden their horizons.
