National Sun-Yat-Sen Univeristy College of Management MBA students stands up for Oath of ethical 

 

values.

 

On 7 June (Sat) morning graduation ceremony, National Sun-Yat Sen University College of Management 

 

in order to enhance students' awareness of social ethics held an ethical oath taking ceremony before 

 

the event with over 50 MBA students participating. Even foreign students participated in the ceremony 

 

which goes to show just how much social ethics stands in the hearts of students. On the Scene, was Mr. 

 

Luo Yijiang former vice president of worldwide Philips, who served as the ceremony administer of oaths, 

 

witness to this important moment, and through the pen gifting ceremony engraved with words "Do 

 

unto others, do not impose on others,", in the hope that in every graduate the concept of business 

 

ethics will be deeply imprinted in their minds.

 

In recent years, the government's public works has frequently appear tainted by bribery scandal, society 

 

is awash with unethical merchandise, filled with the fear of food hygiene and safety. There has also 

 

been instances of enterprises discharging waste, even toxic substances that damages the surrounding 

 

environment. At this point, we know that Taiwan's society is sick, the spirit of enterprise gradually lost 

 

and its ethics gradually receding to the bottom level.

 

Wary of the fact that the morale standards of students may decline, College of Mangement MBA 

 

Department, Professor Huang uses his course of ‘Business Ethics’ to spread the concept of business 

 

ethics. He also pioneered the oath-taking ceremony for graduates of MBA Department, with Mr. Luo 

 

Yijiang, former vice president of Phillips who enjoys worldwide recognition as the man to administer the 

 

oath-taking ceremony.

 

In the ceremony, the students shouted out loud together the oath: "I strongly believe in the goal of 

 

serving and agree that irrespective of whether management as a science or as an art, it is an effective 

 

way for me to serve people." And signed their name in the oath contract. An act of a solemn ceremony 

 

done carefully with the expectations that every graduate would become a champion of business ethics, 

 

to defend and implement it in workplace and in the community, to take up organizational, social and 

 

environmental responsibility, and to enhance social ethical values. Ceremony finally ends with Mr. Luo 

 

Yijiang presenting a pen engraved with the words"Do unto others, do not impose on others” to every 

 

graduates, so that every graduate will think of the ethical oath they took whenever they pick up the pen.
