Times Higher Education located in United Kingdom, has recently released the ranking of the world top 100 universities under 50 years old.

National Sun Yat-sen University (NSYSU) from Taiwan is on the list.

This year, the Ecole Polytechnique FEdErale de Lausanne ranked the first place, and  Pohang University of Science and Technology (Postech) is at 2^nd place, one place lower than last year.

The rankings from 3^rd to 5^th remain the same as follows, Korea Advanced Institute of Science & Technology (KAIST), The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and Nanyang Technological University from Singapore.

These new top universities will probably be the next generation of Harvard or Oxford—listed among the top universities in the world

National Taiwan University of Science and Technology is at 41^st place, National Sun Yat-sen University at 49^th place, and National Yang-Ming University at 100^th in 2015.  Asia University drops out of the top 100 this year.

The editor of the ranking list, Phil Baty, stated that Taiwan was once Asia's top nation in the 100 under 50 in terms of numbers. This year, Taiwan has 3 representatives in the ranking, the same number as Hong Kong

He added that, “the 100 under 50 rankings are topped by young, aspirational, and dynamic institutions from countries where their governments invest a lot in building world-class universities, a point which Taiwan should note.”

The top 5 universities of the 100 under 50 include universities from South Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore and other East Asian countries. The top 10 universities are from 8 countries, including Switzerland, France, the UK, and the US. These 100 under 50 belong are from different countries/regions, demonstrating that these areas are getting ready to challenge the traditional dominance of top U.S. and U.K. universities in these rankings.

There are 3 institutions on the 100 under 50 rankings and National Sun Yat-sen University is at 49^th.
