The beautiful sunset of Sizihwan and Former British Consulate at Takao are both the hot scenic spots in Kaohsiung city. There are about 200 tour buses coming in and out and has caused a serious car parking problem. The university made the announcement, saying that it would accept no more than 35 tour buses in its parking lot at a time.

The Transportation Bureau of Kaohsiung City considered the operating model of National Sun Yat-sen University is quite different from other common parking lot. The Bureau is trying to communicate with the institution actively. The government will also find aide from the police to control and regulate the overwhelming tour buses.

The Senior Vice President of National Sun Yan-sen University, Dr. Jih-hua Wu, said that, NSYSU used to let the tour buses to park inside of a parking lot in campus, however, due to the massive traffic, the institution rearranged and organized 35 parking spaces for the tour buses. Therefore, in the future, NSYSU will only allow 35 buses to park.

Wu added, the rule is that, when one leaves, another can enter. Usually the traffic is good until the afternoon, when the peak visiting times start from 15 to 17 pm. At that time, crowded tourists is one of the reasons that causes a mass disruption in both Sizihwan Bay and in campus.

Moreover, Wu pointed out that, the parking fee will increase from NT$100 to NT$150 due to the damaging roads caused by the frequent commute in campus. 

Shaochuantou Neighborhood Chief of Gushan District, Tsong-jheng Yang and Go Hamasing Alliance, a local association, have reported to the government and refuse to let the overloading tour buses go into the Sizihwan. Since the parking spots are limited, it will only cause a serious traffic jam in this district.

Yang said that, there are more than 200 tour buses coming in and out in Sizihwan Bay and the massive traffic has became a real nightmare for the local citizens.

The bureau will step up inspections of illegal parking of tour buses. The city government is planning to build a large transit terminal outside Sizihwan, where tour buses are slated to be able to park. Tourists will then enter Sizihwan or other tourist spots by shuttle bus or by sea.
