Our Research Strategy
Our research areas cover the public, private, and non-profit sectors, focusing on public administration, urban and rural development, environmental management, and third sector and community development. We explore the mechanisms and effectiveness of public and private sector collaboration and citizen participation.
Specializations of Faculty
Our faculty specialize in three major areas of study: 1) public governance and policy sciences, 2) urban, rural, and environmental management, and 3) third sector and community development. There are currently nine full-time faculty members in the institute, whose research interests span a wide range of topics, including: urban governance, community building, civic engagement, urban planning and design, environmental psychology, climate change and adaptation, disaster management, gender studies, nonprofit organization management, and traffic behavior analysis and management, among others.
Our research emphasizes the integration of theory and practice, with topics that are mostly public and social in nature, and contributes to urban and rural governance, environmental sustainability, community development, and social care. In addition to the top SSCI and SCIE journals, our faculty has published many research papers in TSSCI Tier 1 journals, strengthening the practical impact on society and policy in Taiwan.
