College of Management Students Embark on a Global Adventure: Exchange Students Share Insights on International Exchange Programs (May 11, 2023)
Our Office of Career Development at College of Management, National Sun Yat-sen University, recently hosted an event that had students buzzing with excitement. The event, which felt more like a fan meet-and-greet, featured three students who shared their invaluable experiences from studying abroad.
The event was a hit among the students, as many dream of studying overseas and are eager to learn about the resources and opportunities available through the university for international exchange programs.
Students who shared their experiences included IBMBA student Ryan Shih, who recently returned from an exchange program at Leipzig Graduate School of Management in Germany; IBMBA Teresa Chan, who participated in a dual degree program at KEDGE Business School in France; and GHRM MBA Maggie Wu, who studied at the Czech Technical University.
KEDGE Business School: Sustainability and Innovation
Teresa kicked off the event by sharing her experience at KEDGE Business School in France. KEDGE, a renowned business school, is known for its focus on sustainability and innovation, such as the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Teresa highly recommended the course on Social Sustainability Entrepreneurship and Innovation, which allowed students to work on international teams and develop entrepreneurial projects for NGOs. The course also provided students with practical tools for evaluating proposals and conducting business analysis.
Czech Technical University: Cross-Cultural Negotiation Skills
Maggie shared her journey at the Czech Technical University. She emphasized the importance of cross-cultural management and negotiation skills. Through role-playing and simulations, students were exposed to different negotiation styles and strategies from various cultures. This experience helped students develop the ability to adapt to different negotiation styles and effectively communicate across cultures.
HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management: Global Networking and Intensive Learning
Ryan shared his experience at Leipzig Graduate School of Management in Germany. He emphasized the importance of English proficiency and active classroom participation. The curriculum at Leipzig was intensive, with courses completed in 2-3 weeks. Ryan encouraged students to network and build relationships with peers from around the world. He also shared tips on how to make friends abroad, such as researching fun facts about a country and joining relevant Facebook groups before departure.
Empowering Students to Go Global
This event left a lasting impact on the students, inspiring them to pursue international exchange programs. National Sun Yat-sen University, committed to fostering global perspectives among its students, offers a diverse range of exchange programs. The Career Development Office plans to host similar events each semester to help students understand the opportunities and challenges of international exchange.
Our College of Management is excited to see its students thrive in a diverse and globalized world, and is committed to supporting them in creating a bright future.
