This World Café–style event brought together local and international students from over 12 countries, fostering lively and relaxed interaction.

On May 23, 2025, the Office of Career Development at the College of Management, National Sun Yat-sen University (NSYSU) hosted a seminar titled “Employment and Industry Development Trends for International Students.” The event featured outstanding international alumni working in fields such as technology, marketing, and semiconductors, who engaged in face-to-face career conversations with current students. With participants from over 12 countries, the atmosphere was dynamic and diverse—resembling a mini United Nations.

The event began with opening remarks from Director Shih Sian Jhang of the Office of Career Development. “Today’s World Café format allows every student to engage directly with professionals across various industries and explore different career paths,” he noted, encouraging students to make the most of this opportunity to build practical knowledge and meaningful connections.

The session was moderated by Dr. Nguyen Tuan Duong, an alumnus of the College and current postdoctoral researcher at NSYSU. Actively involved in international student engagement on campus, Dr. Nguyen played a key role in facilitating the flow of the event. His fluent English and approachable style helped bridge communication between speakers and students, creating an inclusive and energetic atmosphere.

Notably, both the speakers and table facilitators came from the College’s International Business MBA (IBMBA) and Global Human Resource Management English MBA (GHRM MBA) programs. All five speakers are international alumni who have successfully established their careers in Taiwan—showcasing the College’s continued success in its “internationalization with localization” strategy and commitment to cultivating and retaining global talent.

Four current IBMBA and GHRM MBA students served as table facilitators, guiding discussions and encouraging participation:

  • Nerajda (Albania)

  • Ami (Thailand)

  • Kylene (Singapore)

  • Abhijith (India)

The seminar featured five themed tables. The invited alumni rotated clockwise, engaging each group in direct dialogue and sharing insights on various career topics:

  • Anna Kiseleva (Russia), NexAIoT – PMP certification and product/project management skills

  • Hkawn San (Myanmar), ASUS – Building a marketing career in Taiwan

  • Jan Stava (Czech Republic), STMicroelectronics – Trends and career opportunities in Taiwan’s semiconductor industry

  • Daniel Aschauer (Austria), CompaxDigital – Job hunting and networking strategies for international graduates

  • Trent Prestegar (Australia), Supermicro – Long-term career planning and skill development in the tech industry

The second half of the event featured open networking time. Students, speakers, and alumni continued exchanging ideas in a relaxed atmosphere, accompanied by international refreshments that enriched the multicultural experience.

Special thanks go to Deputy Director Hsin-Yu Lin of the Office of International Relations and Accreditation for her full support in planning and coordination, and to Professor Ryan Brading for leading his students to participate—highlighting the collaboration between academic learning and career development.

The event was supported by the Ministry of Education’s Career Counseling and Talent Retention Program for International Students in Taiwan and organized by NSYSU’s Career & Employment Hub for International Students. It reflects the university’s ongoing dedication to building strong links between global talent and Taiwan’s industries.
