[Career] NSYSU and Deloitte Collaborate to Equip Students with ASEAN Market Insights and Consulting Career Skills

Kaohsiung, Taiwan – October 18, 2025 – The College of Management at National Sun Yat-sen University (NSYSU) partnered with Deloitte Taiwan to host a full-day workshop, “Mastering ASEAN Trends, Advancing into Management Consulting Careers,” aiming to enhance students’ understanding of the dynamic ASEAN business landscape and to equip them with essential skills for entering the consulting industry.

The event began with opening remarks by Shih-Sian Jhang, Director of the Office of Career Development, who encouraged students to actively seize opportunities for industry-academia collaboration and develop a global career mindset. The planning and execution of the workshop were supported by Hsin-Yu Lin, Deputy Director of the International Relations and Accreditation Office, ensuring seamless coordination. Demonstrating the College’s commitment to diversity and cross-sector collaboration, the event was also livestreamed to participants of the Flying Geese Women Entrepreneurship Program and the AWE Women Entrepreneurship Academy Program. The workshop was generously sponsored by the NSYSU Management Education Foundation.

The workshop featured two key sessions. In the morning session, Harry Huang, Executive Vice President of Deloitte Taiwan, delivered a keynote speech titled “ASEAN Economy × Vietnam Market Analysis.” Huang analyzed how geopolitical shifts, supply chain restructuring, and tariff policies are reshaping corporate strategies in the region. He highlighted how Taiwanese companies are strategically expanding their presence in ASEAN countries—particularly Vietnam, Malaysia, and Thailand—to build high-value industrial clusters and enhance their global competitiveness.

The afternoon session focused on practical career development skills. Charles Hsu, Assistant Manager of Deloitte’s Talent & Capital team, and Michelle Ng, HR lead of the same team, co-led the “Résumé and Interview Workshop.” Drawing from real-world consulting recruitment processes, they guided students through key aspects of career planning, including how to define career objectives, craft effective résumés, integrate AI tools for interview preparation, and present themselves confidently during interviews. The session also included hands-on exercises such as CV structure analysis, common mistakes in job applications, and mock interview practice with real-time feedback.

The weekend workshop attracted around 30 undergraduate and graduate students, who gained valuable insights into ASEAN market trends and practical skills for career advancement. Through direct interaction with industry experts, participants deepened their understanding of consulting career pathways and enhanced their readiness for future job opportunities.

The College of Management at NSYSU remains committed to working closely with global industry partners to offer more practice-oriented learning opportunities, bridging the gap between academia and the professional world, and empowering students to successfully transition from campus to the global business stage.
