[English Corner] From English Learning to Cross-Cultural Practice: NSYSU CM English Corner Integrates Internships for Global Communication Skills
The Office of International Relations and Accreditation (IRAO) of the College of Management organized the English Corner series from October to November 2025. The program featured multiple fully English-taught sessions focusing on daily English communication skills and workplace English communication, aiming to strengthen students’ practical English proficiency and cultivate cross-cultural communication competence.
The English Corner series was closely integrated with the College’s student internship framework and guided by IRAO, providing students with opportunities to learn through hands-on project participation. Hsin-Ni Chang, a student of the Master of Business Administration program, and Yu-Shan Huang from the Department of Financial Management, participated as student interns in the project. Through their involvement, the interns gained practical experience in project management and time management while supporting the planning and execution of the English Corner events.
The English Corner series invited speakers with international backgrounds, including international alumni and native English speakers. All sessions were conducted entirely in English. Through alumni sharing and professional experience exchange, the events promoted meaningful interaction between students and alumni, further strengthening student–alumni connections and deepening the College’s international alumni network.
Throughout the project, the two student interns communicated with speakers entirely in English, coordinating event themes, schedules, and session arrangements. Their responsibilities encompassed multiple aspects of event organization, including timeline planning, venue coordination, registration and feedback survey design, event flow management, promotional content and poster creation, speaker liaison, administrative coordination, and post-event documentation and news writing.
In terms of role allocation, Hsin-Ni Chang focused primarily on overall communication and administrative coordination to ensure smooth execution of each event, while Yu-Shan Huang contributed her strengths in planning and creativity by developing promotional strategies, written content, and visual materials.
The Office of International Relations and Accreditation noted that integrating the English Corner program with student internships not only enhanced students’ practical English application skills, but also strengthened key competencies such as project management, time management, and cross-cultural communication. IRAO will continue to organize similar international and English-learning initiatives, encouraging students to actively participate and progressively build global perspectives and intercultural competence.
