Words from Our Alumni

Pei-Ya Cheng, Master in Industrial Technology Graduate Program in Finance Innovation Class of 2018

I would like to tell students that the workplace is not a continuation of school life, but a new beginning of another life, so always keep as many options as possible in your own hands. I recommend that during your studies, both in terms of developing soft skills and hard skills, you listen more, learn more, read more, and always continue to learn. In addition, if you have time, you can participate in more internships.

While learning appropriate workplace ethics, you will be able to decide whether the industry field is suitable for you and reduce the gap between expectations and reality and the painful period of transitioning to the workplace. In the end, life is not all about work. I hope that everyone can find their own interests and achieve work-life balance, health and peace on the road to becoming stronger.

Min-Chun Wu, Master in Industrial Technology Graduate Program in Finance Innovation Class of 2018

When I first entered graduate school, I wanted to make up for everything I hadn't done or lacked as an undergrad, and I looked forward to improving my competitiveness for entering the workplace in the future. I believe that competition experience, school resources, and internship experience are the three most important ingredients to developing your career skills. The first point, competition experience, can make your resume stand out and strengthen your professional persuasive skills.

The second point is to make good use of school resources. For example, National Sun Yat-sen University provides students with free one-on-one language exchange opportunities with foreign students, and the College of Management provides big data analytics courses. These and other opportunities are really worth taking advantage of. In addition to this, the internship experience during the semester is a great opportunity to explore your career options.

Also, because the Master in Industrial Technology Graduate Program in Finance Innovation program provides bank internships, students can understand the skills required for the workplace and prepare for them in advance. The above three points were the nourishment for me to grow up in the midst of all my stumbling, and you can enjoy the fruits of your work only after you put them into action. Just do it!
