In terms of required courses, there are only two required professional courses and a two-credit seminar on information management. The purpose of the seminar is to give students the opportunity to listen to experiences and opinions from industry, government, and academia, and to broaden their horizons. The design of the supplementary courses aims to provide students with basic background knowledge of information management. Students who fail the application for exemption from supplementary courses can take the corresponding supplementary courses to make up for it, and these credits are also counted as graduation credits. There are seven supplementary courses, which are mainly divided into core courses and business management knowledge courses. The rest of the students can choose courses according to their interests, research and study plans.

Words from Our Alumni

Yen-Chun Lin, Master Class of 2018

I love the learning atmosphere and the faculty here, so as an undergraduate student I decided to select NSYSU’s Department of Information Management for my MBA institution. The faculty and resources here are more than enough to support you wherever you want to go, whether it is in furthering your studies, getting a job, or starting a business. Now I am an elite member of the financial industry, and I was able to get a position coveted by many management school students because of the logical thinking skills and analytical theory knowledge I accumulated during my studies.

The combination of my master's thesis with current trends and the appropriate research methods under the professional guidance of my professors helped me to gradually implement my thesis research and win the TSC Thesis Award. The market insight, problem-identification and problem-solving skills I developed during the process are also important soft strengths that I will continue to use in my work. I would also like to encourage graduate students to be more active in planning their studies than undergraduate students. Studying is not just about getting a degree, but also about why you are studying, what you want, and how to get it. With motivation and purpose, it's easy to see your own growth, and the confidence that comes with it is as easy as getting a shining Mario star.

I-Hang Tsai, Master Class of 2010

It has been ten years since I entered National Sun Yat-sen University. During my ten years of study, the Department of Information Management has not only provided me with rich learning resources and practical experience, but also fulfilled my dream of studying abroad. During my master's degree, I applied for a joint degree with JKU, Linz University in Austria. Living in Austria was one of the most valuable experiences of my life. I was able to learn more about different professions, work on projects with foreign companies, and exchange cultures with students of different nationalities. Every day of my year and a half abroad has been priceless to me.

After returning to Taiwan, I chose to stay in the Department of Information Management to pursue my Ph.D. NSYSU’s Department of Information Management has cultivated my critical thinking, problem solving, communication skills and international competitiveness, and played a major role in many important milestones in my life. I believe it will also be the strongest support behind me as I pursue my dreams.
