Words from Our Alumni

Hui-Lan Wang, In-Service Online Master in Electronic Commerce and Business Analytics Class of 2017

In college, I studied Finance and Taxation. After graduation, I applied what I learned to work as a finance and accounting professional. The training I received at work enabled me to become familiar with the workflow linkage and operation control of the organization. The rapid development of information technology also allowed me to change course to enter the information service industry and start the work of digital process integration and promotion in enterprises. Since I had switched to a job that I hadn’t been trained for, I always encountered bottlenecks in my understanding of ICT professional technology and had to spend a lot of time searching for knowledge and learning.

Furthermore, it is necessary to improve the literacy of information management when assisting enterprises in data mining and building data assets, which also motivated me to study. When I came to the Department of Information Management at NSYSU, the professors guided me with scientific thinking to implement the value chain in a variety of materials. Here I deeply felt that standing on the shoulders of giants allowed me to see wider and farther, and that a more systematic curriculum made learning more efficient. Even though I have graduated, I still rely on my professors to help solve my problems – they are still our strongest practical think tank.

Pei-Fen Wang, In-Service Online Master in Electronic Commerce and Business Analytics Class of 2017

After four years of professional “baptism” and training in the Department of Information Management at NSYSU, I finally completed my thesis and graduated successfully. Coming from the accounting department, I had almost zero programming ability at the beginning, but now I can do data processing and cleaning, data visualization analysis, model creation, validation, evaluation and interpretation of models. Finally, my completed thesis was awarded the 2021 Annual Ping-Tsang Lin Paper Award by the Institute of Internal Auditors-Chinese Taiwan, an honor I share with National Sun Yat-sen University and Professor Yihuang Kang.

I would like to thank the professors at National Sun Yat-sen University for never giving up on students who are eager to learn, regardless of whether they are starting from scratch or not. This road of learning is full of blood, sweat and tears, but there is also benefit a lot from it. Although this is a small step for many managers, it is a big step in their own lives, a kind of feeling of being reborn and full of joy. Once again, thank you to National Sun Yat-sen University, thank you to Professor Yihuang Kang for your rebuilding grace.
